GENERAL INFORMATION

ACCOMODATION

  • All cleaning materials are provided, also a hoover, iron and ironing board.
  • Heating and cooking is by electricity, and the cost is included in the weekly rates.
  • Beds all have duvets, with 2 pillows per person, and are all fitted with undercovers.
  • A washing machine and tumble dryer are available on the ground floor, and are operated by a slot meter which takes £1 coins.
  • There is a small garden to the rear, with a shared washing line.
  • There are hooks in the garden to which you can padlock cycles. ( The cycle shop is next door )
  • Parking is free, in the adjacent street area.
  • Time in to Flats 1, 2, 3, 6 & The Grocer’s House is normally between 12 and 2 pm, and can vary within this dependent on the season. Time in to The Captain’s House is between 1 & 3pm. Later entry is possible by prior arrangement, especially if you have far to come.
  • Time out is by 10am on date of leaving.

BED LINEN and TOWELS

If you are bringing your own – you need - DUVET COVERS - BOTTOM SHEETS - PILLOW CASES – TOWELS – TEA TOWELS KITCHEN TOWELS - as required.

We can provide the above, at an extra cost of £10 per head - with 1 weeks notice. This comprises duvet cover, bottom sheet, 2 pillowcases, 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel per person, tea towels, and kitchen towel.

BOOKING

  • This is always done by phone, as it is quicker, and ensures that your dates are available. We also like to make sure that our accommodation is as completely suited to your requirements as possible, especially as we have such a choice of sleeping arrangements in the 6 properties.
  • A non-returnable deposit of £50 - £70 per week (depends on size of flat & season) confirms your booking.
  • If we manage to re-let a cancelled holiday, we will usually make a refund, but minus any extra advertising costs, and discounts we have had to offer to fill the vacancy at short notice.

Bookings are accepted on condition that the property is left in
as clean and tidy a condition as it was on your arrival.

We operate a friendly “ no deposit for Damage” policy – but reserve the right to charge for any damage which cannot be classed as “normal wear & tear”- and any extra work we have to do to ensure that the accommodation comes up to our normal standards for the next occupants.

PAYMENT

  • The balance is due in full, no less than 4 weeks from the start of your holiday, except for New Year bookings, when it is payable by the end of October.
  • CANCELLATION INSURANCE is available, details will be sent on request.

about MILLPORT
and The Isle of Cumbrae

MILLPORT is the only town on the Isle of Cumbrae, which is a 10 minute ferry journey from LARGS – in the Firth of Clyde.

The island itself is only 10.25 miles around, and offers breathtaking scenery from quiet roads and the easily accessible shoreline, and is a perfect setting for a family holiday. There are clean sandy beaches, and rocky outcrops with lots of pools to explore. Seabirds abound, as do seals, and other wildlife thrives in the unspoilt island haven. It boasts the smallest Cathedral in the British Isles, and the new Museum will soon be open in the magnificent re-built Garrison Building.

Cycling is a favourite pastime, and 1 Guildford Street is right next to Mapes Cycle Hire Shop (01475 530444).

There are spectacular views from the 9 hole Golf Course, to which visitors are very welcome, as it is situated at the top of the island. (01475 530305 - Starter 530306 - Secretary)

The Bowling Club also welcomes visitors. (07960 228 695)

Sailing is catered for at either the Cumbrae National Watersports Centre (01475 530757) – or in Largs at Largs Yacht Haven – (01475 675333) and the Scottish Sailing Institute – (01475 670011)

Diving off various wrecks around Cumbrae is popular, and the dive shop of C&C Marine in Largs Yacht Haven supplies equipment, compressed air, tuition & Sea Safaris. (01475 687180)

Walking on Cumbrae is gaining in popularity, owing to the fact that it is not very hilly, and has a good selection of short and easy walks available.

Children’s Playground facilities are good, with grassy areas for playing football.
